Why Credentials Won't Make You Rich in the "How To" Info-Business

Dear Friend,

This morning I was up earlier than usual to participate in a live teleseminar for a group of DOERS out of Australia (they're 12-15 hours ahead of Florida, USA time).

Toward the end of the call I opened the line for questions, and wouldn't you know it, one of the questions was EXACTLY the same as what I've heard many times here in the U.S.

It goes like this: "Well, yeah. I can see that it's easy for you to make millions in the business of "how to" information publishing, you're a World Champion. But how can someone like me, who doesn't have a major title or accomplishment like that make money?"

Tis a good question. But the fact of the matter is that "world titles" don't make money. Info products that are marketed in a superior way make money. And yes, you can even make a lot of money with superior marketing for an inferior product. It's done all the time. I don't encourage it, nor do I approve of it - but my point is .... IT AIN'T my World Title.

How do I know this?

Well, for one, when I first began in the business I was a national champion and two-time collegiate All-American in the sport of wrestling. As such, I was absolutely convinced that this title alone would help me make money. Yet, I lost my arse when I thought that was they key. No one cared. And for my first two years in the biz I made, on average, $1,500.00 a month.

At the end of my second year in the biz, I was on the team to go to China to compete in the World Shuai-chiao Kung fu tournament. As I could NOT afford to make the trip without a method of bringing in some extra cash, and fast, I decided to make a video of me doing little more than "training for competition."

The video was 90 minutes long and very motivational - but not instructional. I sent a 4-page letter to my whopping customer list of 350 people, offering it to them, pre-production, for $69.00.

This letter brought me $4,000.00 in sales almost overnight. This gave me enough to go to China with my wife and stay for three weeks.

It just so happens that I won the world title while in China, becoming the first American to do so. And upon my return, sales for my new video and other products jumped zero. I simply maintained the $4,000.00 per month level.

Now, wouldn't you think that, with my world title in tow, that sales would have EXPLODED? Wouldn't you think that I would do at least 10x what I'd done before?

Or at least double, right?

But no, for two more months I was stuck at 4K.

My father, interestingly enough, then told me, "You better make sure you keep training all your students at the gym because you don't know how long that $4,000.00 in extra income is going to last."

Turns out, he was right. It didn't last - because around that time I started to spend more time studying "how to market" effectively. As a result, I created another product for my market - and this shot sales to $8000.00 per month.

And for the next two years, I floundered back and forth, earning between $8,000.00 and $14,999.00 per month. Don't laugh. I had a mental block and literally could NOT break 15K per month. In fact, one time I did break it - and on the last day of the month, before the product shipped, the customer called to cancel, knocking sales back down to less than 15K.

Then, in the year 2000, I finally got my act together a little better. I decided I wanted to end the struggle. I decided it was time to move up and quit diddling around. I came out with my book Combat Conditioning and it quickly brought me to $20,000.00 per month. In fact, we skipped fifteen thousand and shot right to 20.

Then, before the year was up, we had done as much as $37,000.00 in a single month. I thought this was incredible. We thought we were truly kicking butt. All of our bills were finally paid and there was money enough left over for me to buy my wife a new Mercedes and pay cash for it. Fact is, we had to because our credit was so bad from being in debt so long that we most certainly could not get a loan - not at a fair interest rate. So we shocked the dealer when, after he ran a credit check - we said, "No problem. We'll go get a cashier's check and bring it in. Would that be okay?"

Now, if you think my old man was concerned about $4,000.00 per month suddenly disappearing, what do you think he thought when we were at 37K a month?

And so, as the story really does go, in 2001 we moved to 50, then to 60, then to 70, and ultimately to over $80,000.00 in a single month.

Barriers like $15,000.00 were no longer there. I had bigger ones to hurdle - and let me tell you, all the barriers were mental. And the next "mental" barrier was 100K a month.

When we smashed through that barrier we did it in style, bringing in $125K - followed by $153K.

Then a funny thing happened. I got scared. I spent a few months trying to figure out the mental process I was using - as well as the marketing process. How did it work? And why did it work? I just had to know.

So I studied and researched these questions and while doing so let my income drop below 100K per month for a few months. I then woke up, smelled the coffee and said, "Eureka, I've got it. I know the how and I know the why." I got back to work and commited to really going for it.

Next thing you know we're doing over $200K, then $300K, then $400K - and so on. And let me tell you - I'm just getting warmed up.

Now, pause for a moment: I want to ask you a question. And it's an important one. Tell me, after I returned from China, WHAT competition did I win that is responsible for me going from $4,000.00 per month to over $400,000.00?

The answer is ... NONE.

Truth is, I'm proud of my titles. I'm glad I won them.

But the fact of the matter is that they have so little to do with how much money I'm making that I have to be reminded of them by people who want to do what I'm currently doing, i.e. making money - and THEY bring it up. But they ALWAYS bring it up as a "negative" in their favor.

Believe me, if the secret to making millions was winning a world title or Olympic gold - don't you think all those Olympians would be rich? But they're not. Most don't have a dime.

And in the martial arts and fighting world, it's even worse. In fact, you cannot name a single world champion martial artist or wrestler who has made the money I have in this business. Not one. They may make money in the ring. And when they are out of the ring they may create books and videos, but they make almost nothing from them because they don't understand how to market their products.

Trouble is, they think they know. They think there's nothing to it. They think they can just look at what I do and imitate it and they'll succeed. But as the saying goes, "Often imitated, never duplicated."

Yet, my success can be duplicated - if you take the time to learn what I'm doing - and learn from me directly. I have successfully transferred my knowledge to others who are now making large incomes. See the testimonials on my website for examples of this.

f And this is as it should be. Afterall, if you wanted to learn how to box, would you get a coach and take training in it - or would you simply sit around and watch fight films?

No doubt, you can learn "some" from watching films - but nothing that will make you a champion. If you want to move up, you need more than a look from the outside-in. You need a look from the inside-out.

My seminar gives you that look from the "inside." And believe me, once you see things "up close" - something within changes. It ain't what you got on the outside in terms of titles and credentials that matters (afterall, I have doctors and lawyers who come learn from me). It's what you have going on INSIDE.

Creating wealth begins within. It is a state of mind.

What's your state of mind right now? Is it moving toward or away from more wealth?

Best,

P.S. A seat is waiting for you at my The Furey Method for Creating a Fortune on the Internet seminar. Come and join me by clicking here.

P.P.S.: I have written all of the above, from the heart, with zero editing. If typos are present, my apologies. So much to do, so little time.
